Quilted Hoodie

Cost: $25.00

Supplies:

•        Quilted Hoodie pattern by Well Springs Designs
•        Sewing Machine in good working order with a zigzag stitch
•        90/14 needle (recommended for quilted fabric)
•        Basic Sewing Supplies
•        Chalk (Bohin or Dritz Chalk Cartridge Set) or Fabric Marking Pen (Clover Water-Soluble)
•   Quilted Fabric/Quilt appropriate for the size hoodie you are making

• Fabric scissors
• Seam ripper
• Coordinating polyester thread
• Pins or clips

First-Time Hoodie Makers: We recommend using a thrifted quilt, mass-produced quilt, or pre-quilted fabric to test the fit before cutting into a treasured quilt or special fabric.

Bias Tape

For this class, we will be using ½” double-fold bias tape rather than 2 ¼” bias binding.

Option 1: Make your own 1/2" double-fold bias tape.

• Purchase the amount of fabric specified in your pattern.
• Use a 1/2" bias tape maker to prepare your bias tape before class.

Option 2: Purchase prepackaged 1/2" double-fold bias tape.

• XS–M: 2 packages
• L–XL: 3 packages
• 2XL–3XL: 4 packages

Optional Supplies:

•   Pattern Weights (holds pattern pieces in place while tracing)
•   Stiletto (helps hold fabric in place as you approach the needle while sewing)
•   Serger (finish raw edges) or you can use a zigzag stitch on your machine
•   Walking Foot (some people find this helpful on bulky seams)

 Class Prep:

Please complete the following before class:

• Cut or trace your pattern to the size you plan to make.
• Recommended: Trace your pattern onto Pattern Ease or Swedish Tracing Paper instead of cutting the original. This allows you to make future size adjustments and preserves the original pattern.
• If making your own bias tape, have your 1/2" double-fold bias tape prepared before class.
